Lux was founded in San Francisco in 1999 as a Post-Production and Animation Studio and quickly incorporated developing internet technologies such as Flash & Javascript. Around 2002, Lux successfully founded and launched several online publishers and began pioneering internet ad technologies – which has resulted in millions of dollars in revenue over the years. From 2009-2014, Lux helped launch several networks at NBC News and since then has taken on dozens of other properties.
